As if there wasn't enough going on in New Orleans on account of the Saints, last Tuesday was Mardi Gras. Here are a few pictures from Tuesday.

 


 

Super Bowl aftermath

I'll post more later, but for now here are two Saints Super Bowl victory pictures. The top picture of fans in the French Quarter ran as a double truck in the February 15th issue of Sports Illustrated.

 


 

Surge barrier

Last month I went on a boat tour of the Army Corps of Engineers' storm surge barrier, which is expected to protect New Orleans from storm surges coming from Lake Borgne and the Gulf of Mexico to the east. At two miles long, 25 feet high and $1.1 billion in costs, it's the largest construction project in the state's history.
